Following on from the government announcement this evening regarding the “new rules on staying at home and away from others”.
The Hackspace as a '''non essential community space''' is now  '''temporarily closed''' for at least 3 weeks or until the government decide we can open again and we have done the following to support this;
Temporarily deactivated all card access to the Hackspace.
Turned off all non essential electrical equipment
Turned off the water supply
Some of these measures are to support the governments decision, some are to try and limit our expenditure whilst we are closed.
If you feel you have a pressing need to access the space please contact the directors to discuss this via email [[Mailto:directors@leedshackspace.org.uk|directors@leedshackspace.org.uk]]
The committee thank everyone who has being practicing social distancing for the last few weeks and hope all those who have chosen to self isolate are doing well.
Remember the Hackspace is more than just a building we are a community and we should be always looking out for each other and those around us so if you need anything ask and I'm sure there will be one of us that can help other wise please keep chatting on Slack, mailing list, Minecraft and any other means we have.

Dear Leeds Hackspace Members,(updated 23rd March 2020)

Following on from the government announcement this evening regarding the “new rules on staying at home and away from others”.

The Hackspace as a non essential community space is now  temporarily closed for at least 3 weeks or until the government decide we can open again and we have done the following to support this;

Temporarily deactivated all card access to the Hackspace.

Turned off all non essential electrical equipment

Turned off the water supply

Some of these measures are to support the governments decision, some are to try and limit our expenditure whilst we are closed.

If you feel you have a pressing need to access the space please contact the directors to discuss this via email [[1]]

About the Space

Leeds Hackspace is a workshop space for people that like making things, are curious about how stuff works, or would like to learn new skills.

Membership is open to all and we are a not-for-profit organisation entirely run by its community.

We are interested in technology (both new and old) but are also a social group of people who enjoy talking and bouncing ideas/questions off of one another.

Everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to have a wiki account. Please ask in IRC/Slack or email the directors.
